Catalogues of Donations

Rodolfo Banfi Collection

The collection contains about 300 works and it was donated to the Library between 2005 and 2009. Rodolfo Banfi (1919 – 1992) worked at Banca Commerciale Italiana led by Raffaele Mattioli from 1946 to 1978, directing the COMIT’s Research Department from 1972 to 1978. In 1979, he became Chairman of Medio Credito Centrale. A board member of ISTAO, the R. Mattioli Foundation, Basinvest, ICE and the Corrente Foundation, he became Chairman of ATM Milano in December 1990.

Ferruccio Bolchini Collection

The collection contains 440 works edited between the late 19th century and 1940, all of which focus on law.
Ferruccio Bolchini (1875 - 1931), Professor of Civil Law at the University of Pavia from 1903 to 1925, he was Rector of Bocconi University from 1926 to 1930.

Ugo Caprara Collection

The collection contains 94 works edited between the late 19th century and 1940, which focus on business economics, accounting and business.
Caprara (1894 - 1990) graduated from Bocconi in 1921 began his university career a year later as assistant to the Chair of Accounting and Business Management held by Professor Zappa. In later years, he was Professor of Business Management, retiring from academics in 1969. During his university career, he was asked to join the University Board, contributing to Bocconi’s continuous development.

Enrico Cernuschi Collection

The collection contains around 720 works edited between the late 16th century and the late 19th century. Enrico Cernuschi (1821 – 1896) was a banker and Italian patriot, and a naturalized French citizen. As a banker, he is best known for his publications on finance issues, specifically related to the monetary system known as bimetallism.

Giordano Dell’Amore Collection

The collection contains more than 4000 works, edited between the early 19th century and 1980. Dell’Amore (1902 - 1981) graduated from Bocconi in 1923, he was Professor of Banking at Cattolica University in Milan. Professor of Management at Bocconi and Rector from 1967 to 1973, he was also Chairman of CARIPLO and the Lombardy Provincial Government.

Mauro Fasiani Collection

The collection contains around 2100 monographs and periodicals focusing on public finance and financial law.
Fasiani (1900-1950), an economist and Professor of Political Economy at the University of Turin, was a student of Luigi Einaudi.

Eugenio Greco Collection

The collection contains around 3200 works edited between the late 18th century and 1950. In 1902, the year Bocconi University was founded, Professor Maglione asked Greco (1878 - 1959), to be his assistant to the Chair in General and Applied Accounting. He taught continuously until 1938. He held the Chairs in Business Management (1918 - 1920), Finance (1920 - 1925) and Accounting (1925 - 1938).

Giuseppe Luraghi Collection

The collection, donated to the University by the family in 2000, contains about 260 monographs and 53 periodicals. Giuseppe Luraghi (1905–1991) graduated from Bocconi with a degree in Economics in 1926. As a corporate manager, he had executive roles at Pirelli, Finmeccanica and IRI Group. In 1960 he was appointed Chairman of Alfa Romeo.

Edoardo Majno Collection

This catalogue contains the bibliographic records of the Edoardo Majno collection, donated to the Library in 2012.

Luigi Majno Collection

The collection contains 130 works focusing on the evolution of socialist theories.
Jurist Luigi Majno (1852 - 1915), taught Law and Criminal Procedure at the University of Pavia from 1889 to 1894. He was Chairman of Fondazione Umanitaria until 1898 and a Member of Parliament representing Milan during the 21st legislature. He was also Rector of Bocconi University from 1914 to 1915.

Cesare Pedrazzi Collection

The collection contains about 500 monographs and periodicals focusing on criminal law. Cesare Pedrazzi (1927 – 2005) began his university career as an assistant in Urbino, later on he held the Chair in Criminal Law at Universities in Trieste, Pavia, and then Milan (both the University of Milan and Bocconi). Editor-in-chief of Rivista di Diritto e procedura penale, at the end of his career he was Professor Emeritus of Corporate Criminal Law at Bocconi.

Ugo Pisa Collection

The collection contains about 250 documents edited between the late 18th century and 1940.
Ugo Pisa (1845-1910) graduated from the University of Pavia with a degree in Law. He was first board member and then Chairman of the Milan Chamber of Commerce. He was also Senator of Italy in the Liberal party during the 20th legislature (1898-1910).

Angelo Sraffa Collection

The collection contains about 835 works edited between the mid 16th century and 1937.
Sraffa (1865 - 1937) graduated from Pisa in 1888, then, starting in 1893, taught Commercial Law in Pisa, Macerata, Messina and Parma until 1903, when he was asked to hold the Chair in Business and Commercial Law at the then newly founded Bocconi University. He was Rector of Bocconi from 1918 to 1926. In 1924, after teaching at the University of Turin, he was part of a group of professors who were given the task of creating the Faculty of Law for the University of Milan.

Angelo Sraffa Legal Miscellanea

The collection contains 2709 documents (most of which are extracts of legal journals) collected by Angelo Sraffa and edited between the mid 19th century and 1930.

Ariberto Mignoli Collection

The collection includes about 2300 monographs and periodicals focusing on commercial law.
Ariberto Mignoli (1920-2003) graduated from Cattolica University in Milan in 1942 with a degree in Law. Starting in 1956, he was Professor of Commercial Law at Bocconi and he was Director of the Angelo Sraffa Institute of Comparative Law. He founded Rivista delle società with Tullio Ascarelli.

Gino Zappa Collection

The collection contains about 2200 works, edited between the mid 19th century and 1950.
Zappa (1879 - 1960) graduated in 1904 from University Ca' Foscari in Venice, where he studied under Fabio Besta. He was known as the founder of Business Economics in Italy. A tenured Professor at Bocconi from 1929 to 1934 in Business Mathematics and General and Applied Accounting, he was Director of the Private Economics Laboratory, then the Institute of Business Research and Accounting.

This catalogue contains bibliographic records of the lecture notes held at the University from 1902 to 1945.
