International day for the elimination of violence against women

The Library has created a libguide dedicated to the International day for the elimination of violence against women and girls (November, 25th). We hope that this tool can generate reflection and awareness on this widespread social and cultural problem.

The International day for the elimination of violence against women and girls was declared by the United Nations in 2000. It is connected to the goal 5 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and marks the conclusion of a process that started in 1993 with the adoption of the Declaration on the elimination of violence against women. The aim is to raise awareness across citizens of the member states on the problem of violence against women and girls, that has been defined as violation of human rights by the United Nations.
