Copyright at the University

Droit d’auteur (the Continental civil law equivalent of common law copyright) acknowledges the property right of the creator to the various expressions of his/her work, which the cultural industry has embodied and applied in the course of its development. The multiplying of digital texts online has made increasingly difficult the interpretation of the norms on the use of content, both for authors and readers. Copying texts is not a right, and exchanging texts by respecting intellectual property is not a convention but a form of respect: a reader can turn into an author, and any author is also a reader.
With the Copying is not a right initiative, the Library intends to provide precise guidelines on how to reproduce and share the texts and the knowledge that are required by the daily activities of learning, teaching and research at Bocconi.
